Australia) is running an event in Adelaide on 15th October 2014. This is a
free event and one not to miss.

OSIA Event - Adelaide - 15th October - Removing the silos: a future built on
unencumbered open standards
Industry speakers will describe how open standards can be used to improve
business processes and integrate information, data and technologies within
and between organisations based on recent Asset Institute/University of
South Australia funded research and industry case studies. The free session
provides attendees with the opportunity to network with industry
practitioners, seek guidance and share use of standards whilst understanding
the difference of open compared to other standards.

Topic: What does "Open Standard" really mean? And why should I care? Jack
will review the plurality of conflicting definitions of Open Standards in
common use today, provide a working definition, and outline the case for
