For those who haven't seen this yet - tripwire was gone GPL. See
http://sourceforge.net/projects/tripwire/ for the open-sourced version.

Seems Ross Williams and [Free]Veracity has shaken the industry standard file
system integrity checking tool into doing the RightThing[tm]. Hope FreeVeracity
continues to gain market share though.

There's been a beta version of TripWire GPL out for quite a while now

I thought the issue was that Tripwire was once GPL (or an equivalent
licence - I suspect it may predate GPL, as it has been around for a
while), then made into a "proprietary" product (for want of a better
term - basically customised/extended without source code changes).
Damn my aging memory.

Bearing in mind that FreeVeracity is FreeWorldLicence, not GPL. :-)

(I, too, like FreeVeracity better, even if it's because it uses
literate programming techniques).
